Everyone of us is blessed with a potential to lead. Some of us discover it early, while some others never do – only to go through lives completely unaware. LeadCap diaries narrate leadership lessons from the experiences of some real people around us. The more you read and reflect on these experiences, the more easily you would gain confidence to rise to a leadership role.

At the same time, there are still many more stories that have leadership lessons which we could all learn from. They could be fables that you have heard, biographies that you have read or even your own life experiences. These stories and lessons could break more myths and could help in drawing more people towards a leadership experience. Share these stories with us by mailing them across to mail@leadcap.org.

Avadhoodhan

Avadhoodhan’ that’s the name they gave me a month back. People who gave the name themselves failed to give a clear meaning of the Malayalam word. However, some way it meant that Avadhoodhan is a person, whose presence brought positive changes (in their lives). This Avadhoodhan made a visit to Leadership Village in Wayanad for its second level inauguration (as a participant). More than re-visiting the natural beauty of Wayanad, it was the longing to meet the Avadhoodhan’s creators that made me to reach there on the day of inauguration.

Needless to say, the show was excellent considering the fact that, it was just two people’s efforts – without sleep – without food. Half a dozen well known personalities were present for the inauguration. However more exciting was the packed auditorium with students. You should have been there. Neel Mani Chawla and Saurabh Nanda from LeadCap Bangalore accompanied me. Sitting in the last seat of the private bus, we thought that the journey would be horrible, but it turned out to be a great one with good sleep (the return journey was just the opposite though!)

Refreshing my thoughts about the last visit, rain was there to welcome us. Engineering students from Coimbatore had reached a day back, probably the same day when Sangeeth Varghese reached Wayanad for the inauguration. We reached a day later. The Engineering students were the stars of the show after Anil Emage and Laila. Not sure what to call it – leadership or something else – the efforts of Anil Emage and Laila were all over there. But both of them rarely showed up on the stage. Even the welcome speech by Anil Emage was so short that we wondered what happened! We now know that, that’s how the great leaders have trod on earth.  There are lots of thing to write – but that will just improve my language! If we need to take our Leadership Village to next level, you should come down to Wayanad and see what is happening there. Anil and Laila have done it. Students from Coimbatore have done it. Welcome. I feel that Avadhoodhan’s creators are not happy with the way how their leaders and other things are going. It is evident from the blog post below. Promises are meant to be kept. I will keep my promise. All their dreams shall come true soon. The day of inauguration, they walked tall silently telling the world - same world who never cared what they did - to see the success they got! Your action is needed! Welcome.  - Mohammad Nibras P.K., Bangalore.
